Article at a glance:
- Redmond treats growth as essential, investing in people through learning opportunities and meaningful experiences, not perks.
- Programs like culture meetings, seminars, and retreats are designed to build self-awareness, connection, and contribution.
- Compensation and benefits are structured to reflect overall contribution, not just roles or titles.
- Investing in people creates a virtuous cycle: stronger individuals lead to stronger teams, which drive greater impact.
Redmond requires a lot more thinking, engagement, and growth from its associates than most other companies, but it also invests in facilitating that growth.
After all, we have a vision:
We want to live in a world with people who are eager for self-discovery.
Where those intentional and aware individuals come together to form exceptional teams.
And where those teams come together to pursue what’s possible and to make contributions that really matter.
Redmond invests in our associates in ways that will help bring that vision to life!
These aren’t perks or rewards. These things are how Redmond invests in its people. This is part of elevating the human experience and getting closer to our vision!
Here are just a few examples.
How Redmond Invests in You

Redmond’s Compensation Philosophy
We do compensation a little differently than a lot of other companies.
The core of our compensation philosophy is this: We want to pay you as well as we can, but we never want compensation to be your main reason for leaving or staying with Redmond.
Instead of changing compensation when someone switches roles (we don’t do “promotions”), we review everyone’s compensation in the spring and take into account not only the market value of an associate’s skills, but their overall contribution. This includes their tasks and skills, and also their influence on the team and the work processes they’re part of, their development in the core values, and how well they’re leaning in.
Redmond also offers generous benefits packages to its associates, along with opportunities to grow wealth, like a high yield savings account, notes, and annuities. (Talk to HR for more information.)
Redmond associates also steep discounts on all Redmond products and can purchase products from the Markets at cost! This is part of elevating the human experience by taking care of physical needs.
Culture Meetings

Each month, teams from every Redmond location get together to watch a thought-provoking video and have a discussion about it. The whole thing takes a little over an hour. Sometimes, dozens of associates attend these meetings and when you add up the hourly cost…that’s a serious monthly investment.
But we do this because it’s crucial to constantly visit these topics and discuss them with other people so they can really take root!
Seminars
Redmond offers the 7 Habits seminar and Discovery seminars to associates. These are opportunities to step out of the everyday, get to know ourselves and each other better, and focus on tools that will help us be more effective as humans and team members.
Retreats
These are huge investments, but they’re great ways for associates to step away from their day-to-day lives and focus on growth, Renewal, and building relationships with other associates.
Sometimes, those things stick better when we get out of our normal environment!
In most other companies, trips like these are considered perks or rewards for top performers. But at Redmond, they’re for all associates who are committed to their growth and who believe in our mission to elevate the human experience.
Team Activities
Redmond encourages teams to plan occasional activities like off-sites or mini retreats, lunches, pot lucks, game nights, or even Lagoon days!
These are a great way for teams to build mortar and strengthen their collaboration. It’s one thing to get to know someone at work, and it’s another to get to know them in a different context (like screaming on a roller coaster!)
Company-Wide Activities

We do about four of these every year and invite everyone in the company, along with their families! This might look like going to the Hogle Zoo, a fall festival, a campout, or riding the Heber Creeper. Associates can also attend theater events, game and craft nights, and sports tournaments or games throughout the year.
While these don’t come with culture discussions, they’re a great way for associates from across the company to meet and get to know each other as whole people, with their families.
Ongoing Support
Redmond provides day-to-day support in many forms to help associates with their growth!
We have the culture team, whose entire job is to help associates grow and thrive at Redmond. They do this by sharing helpful ideas, keeping the culture conversations going, working in teams, etc. HR also helps associates access helpful resources.
On top of that, associates meet with culture and team leads a few times per year for Discovery Check-Ins, conversations focused on the Three Circles.
Finally, there are tons of culture-related resources available such as this blog and our Knowledge Library of videos, documents, graphics, and more!
Why This Makes Sense
These are all significant investments, but they’re worthwhile ones. We don’t see this as generosity, incentive, or a nice thing to do; we truly believe these investments are good business.
When our associates are self-aware, when they know where they’re most helpful, when they’re deeply invested in their work and the success of their teams, and when they’re strong collaborators, we grow as a company, which means we can invest more in our people to grow even more.
It’s the ultimate virtuous cycle!
